Did you know mainstream support for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 ends on October 4, 2018?  Many of our clients and GP users the world over are still running this older version of the software.  We will still offer support for software is in extended support and beyond. However, when we are working on a product outside of mainstream support, it makes our job more difficult, which means more expensive and slower for you. So, the end of mainstream support is the perfect time to upgrade Dynamics GP, if you haven’t already done so. In this blog, we will cover why that is and give you some helpful resources to get you started.

What is mainstream support and why should I care?

For its software, Microsoft offers two levels of support, mainstream and extended. Mainstream is full support, including year end and tax updates. Extended only includes knowledge base articles, paid support and security updates.

Type of Support Mainstream Extended
Tax and year end updates X
Complementary incident support X
Warranty claims X
Non-security hot fix support X Requires that you purchase an extended hot fix agreement fewer than 90 days after the end of mainstream support.
Paid support X X
Microsoft Help and Support site for answers to technical questions X X
Microsoft Knowledge Base for answers to product specific questions X X

Also, if you’re holding onto an older version of Dynamics GP, you’re missing out on a lot of great features that could help your business run smoother and make your job easier.
